Back to School Guide: Show Your Back-to-school Lesson Plan in PowerPoint

Script out your PowerPoint lesson plans from the day one back to school yet? Kids are going back to school, and as a teacher, you face the hot potato of ice-break, confidence-rebuild task, always beginning with a cheerful lesson plan. And most of you teaching peers tool the first back-to-school lesson plan with the smart MS PowerPoint. Sometimes, these back-to-school lesson plans are transformed from PowerPoint to video or DVD video that is cooler and that can span from across the Internet to a home TV. Can't believe it? That's absolutely true, and quite simple if you take a screen-capture program like Camtasia or a PowerPoint to DVD and video converter like Moyea PPT to DVD Burner.

Nevertheless, you should brick up your back-to-school lesson plan first - to define what you want to teach, to develop clear and specific objectives, to write an Anticipatory Set and step-by-step procedures to reach the objectives, to include a closure for the lesson plan, and to figure out your assessment/evaluation. Only then, can it be the best time to beautify it with PowerPoint and finalize it in sleek video or DVD. If you have no idea of how to begin, these sites with back to school lesson plans may give you a glimmer:

NCSL offers a systemic back-to-school program with lesson plans ranging from high school, middle school and elementary school. You can download a proper one for classroom use.

The Lesson Plans Page hosts a colorful collection of back to school lesson plans for kids. Discover one that comes to your taste, and also submit your fabulous lesson plan to the learning community.

A to Z Teacher Stuff provides you an abundant directory of lesson plans and teaching resources, containing from back-to-school themes and thematic units, literature & book activities, to math, science, learning centers, social studies, computers, reading, writing, P.E./health, cooperative learning.

Scholastic sets back-to-school lesson plans that you can grasp at a glance by well-organized categories, either from pre-school to grade 12, or from math to science.

Teaching with Historic Places lets you celebrate the first days of new school year with lesson plans that consider important aspects of the history of education and educational facilities. Created by National Park Service interpreters, preservation professionals, and educators, the lessons are free and ready for immediate classroom use by students in history and social studies classes.

To deliver the back to school lesson plan via a sheer paper or an audiovisual presentation, it depends on your existing classroom facilities. Personally, I prefer the audiovisual teaching method – whether in original PowerPoint or processed DVD or video. If a picture is worth a thousand of words, an animated video, especially a movie-feel DVD must be worth ten thousands. Give a try to such a dynamic practice of lesson plan to gear your resistant kids back to school. Here I would like to add a word on how to turning your lesson plan presentation to video or DVD with Moyea PPT to DVD Burner.

It is a 3-click task.

1. Install and launch the .exe file of Moyea PPT to DVD Burner.

2. Import your PowerPoint presentation of back to school lesson plan, select an output option, either DVD (you can choose Standard or High Definition) or video (about 12 popular video format in total), set the output details in Advanced Settings and indentify with a logo if necessary.

3. Click the Start button, under the Burn tab, to start converting your lesson plan PPT file to video or DVD.

Note: The PowerPoint to DVD and video conversion program has a built-in burning engine that can burn your presentation to a blank DVD.

Then, at the first day of the new school year, you can show the students your spectacular lesson plan slideshow with a projected laptop or even a DVD player attached to a big-screen TV. It is also a good idea to leave a moment for independent practice during the lesson plan slideshow.

Convert Church PowerPoint Presentation to Video for Sharing Online

Take nimble sermon PowerPoint video from Moyea PPT to Video Converter, to warm the whole world in the big depression

Apart from schools and enterprises, PowerPoint also shows a particular shine in church use. Now God can eye a PowerPoint-based worship, sermon, or prayer penetrate in slimmed video, to reach more Christians beyond a separate church, to encourage the world's hurt and hungered in this big depression. As a priest or pastor, you may often use PowerPoint to make an in-door sermon presentation for the local parish.

Have you ever felt like sharing your brilliant PPT presentation with more fellow Christians via the buzzing Web? Mmm, you can conceive a great pull with those who are seeking a help hand, by stretching the power of your sermon presentation from fixed PowerPoint on a single PC to flying video across the entire Internet. And the tool that makes that true and simple, is a deft conversion program called Moyea PPT to Video Converter. It can be an assistant of you to shape your sermon PowerPoint presentation to a clear-cut lossless video that accommodates to your Home Page, church blogs, podcasts and online video church sites.

PowerPoint video is almost a no-brainer if you follow these 2 procedures:

  • Phase 1: Compile the sermon presentation script in PowerPoint

  • Phase 2: Convert the sermon PowerPoint presentation to video

Procedures of Creating a Sermon Slideshow Video

Compose sermon presentation in PowerPoint Phase 1: Compile the sermon presentation script in PowerPoint

To make a thrilling sermon slideshow video, you should develop a thrilling sermon PowerPoint original first.

Generally, there are 5 steps for composing a complete PowerPoint presentation, shown as below:

a. Select a matching layout for the sermon PowerPoint
This includes the slide mode, PowerPoint background or template. Although MS PowerPoint itself has a few built-in templates for your sermon presentation, you can taste some others with a typical Christian style to outstand. You can get free Christian PowerPoint templates and backgrounds at eBibleTeacher.com, ChristianPPT.com, ParadiseDesign.com

Step 2 b. Add or import the text with illustrations for the sermon PowerPoint

The core is the content. Your audience would be evoked quickly by an illustrated, well-organized sermon story. Structure the text and the pictures. Use short words and phrases instead of long sentences. Note that audience would often turn around for another when coming to a video with blurred graphics. So remember to choose quality pictures for your sermon PowerPoint. Tune the text and the pictures till perfect. See also PowerPoint font tips for your sermon presentation.

Step 3 c. Wing the sermon PowerPoint presentation with animations and transitions

How would you like the sermon presentation move on? You'd better rely on the magic of MS PowerPoint, a rich range of animations and transitions. Animate the Christian artwork to achieve more.

Step 4 d. Give a dynamic mood (music or movie clip) to the sermon PowerPoint Church is always associated with merry hymns. Why not move the merry mood to your sermon PowerPoint presentation? Any Christian online will be very likely to hear your dynamic message! Alternatively, you can use an old movie clip that fits the sermon to add a touch. Click here for details on how to insert music to your church PowerPoint presentation, how to add a video to your Christian PowerPoint

Step 5 e. Test! Test! Test!

A presentation without tested practice is never a good presentation. When you are about to finish the sermon presentation, don't forget to test the integral effect. Check the sermon
slideshow from a global view, looking through to see whether each PowerPoint element is coherent with another. If you want the church sound to play across all the slides, check whether it is exactly as long as the slideshow. If not, adjust the slide transitions to make them accord.

Convert sermon PowerPoint presentation to video Phase 2: Convert the sermon PowerPoint presentation to video

Now the sermon presentation is ready, it is time to stream it to video with Moyea PPT to Video Converter. The PowerPoint video converting app has a 6-language interface, supports 12 more video output file formats, 14 more audiooutput file formats, and outputs to dozens of end devices from desktop to portable. It is all in 3 mouse clicks:

II. Select a proper video output format as listed in the Profile. Specify an output folder for the
video output. If you like, personalize the video slideshow sermon with Customize,
Music, and Advanced Settings features.

III. Click Start to start the conversion from your sermon PowerPoint to video. In a minute or two, the sermon PowerPoint relives as a vivid video resembling the original animations, transitions, music or movie clips.

Voila! Publish the sermon PowerPoint video to YouTube, connect it to your favorite online Christian community, link it to your Church Podcast and blog, hook it to your iPhone or Blackberry to give a mobile presentation, and do anything that it can help do to spread God's spirit and better the world.

How to Add an iTunes Sound to PowerPoint Presentation

Add music, add a mood to your PowerPoint presentation. You wanna use a song from iTunes store as background music of the PowerPoint file? Oops, there is a format problem. PowerPoint doesn't accept iTunes music, which is encoded in M4P. You need to make a format alternation before inserting the iTunes sound into your presentation.

Here I will discuss in 2 sections how to convert iTunes music to a PowerPoint-supported audio format, and how to import the converted iTunes sound to PowerPoint 2003/2007.

Section 1 Convert iTunes Music to PowerPoint compatible audio (e.g. MP3)

Mentioning this issue, we should know which sound formats are compatible with PowerPoint.
Audio file formats compatible with PowerPoint 2003/2007 include: AIFF, AU, MIDI, MP3, WAV, WMA
Among the sound formats above, MP3 is the most familiar to us, with its small size and good sound quality. So to convert iTunes music to PowerPoint compatible format often means to realize the conversion from M4P to MP3.
Generally, you can try these two ways to convert an iTunes track to MP3 audio format.

Method 1 Burn and Rip the iTunes music to MP3 for PowerPoint

  • In the iTunes store, select the track that you want to use in your PowerPoint presentation. Then burn it to an empty CD disk.
  • Open the disk with Windows Media Player, and rip music from the CD into a *.wma format. Right click on the track and choose to send to Windows Audio Converter. There you can choose the format as MP3 and save it to a folder.

Method 2 Convert iTunes to MP3 with Third-party Audio Converter

You can also use a third-party audio conversion tool to convert iTunes to MP3.
iTunes to MP3 Conversion software include: TUNEBITE Platinum, SoundTaxi Converter, 5star freeTunes, and AppleMacSoft DRM Converter for Mac
Choose one that fits to your system, and convert the iTunes M4P to PowerPoint-ready MP3.

Note: iTunes music files (M4P - "protected AAC") have DRM protection which prevent users from converting it to other formats or adding iTunes songs to PowerPoint presentation directly. To insert iTunes music to PowerPoint slide show as background music, you will need to remove DRM protection from iTunes Music and convert iTunes to MP3 for PowerPoint first.

Section 2 Import converted iTunes music to your PowerPoint presentation

Now, it's time to insert the iTunes MP3 sound to your PowerPoint presentation. Follow these steps:

  • a. Go to the slide where you want to add the iTunes MP3 sound. Select Insert -> Movies and Sounds -> Sound from File to insert the sound file from your local drive. Click OK.
  • b. Then you will see a message pop up asking how you want the sound to start in slide shows. Click Automatically.

For more about adding a MP3 file to PowerPoint, see in How to Set Background Music for PowerPoint

To play the iTunes music across all the slides, explore in How to Play a Sound across Multiple Slides in PowerPoint

To extract an iTunes MP3 sound from PowerPoint, take the audio video mix Moyea PPT to Video Converter

Back to School Fun: Make Back-to-school DVD Movie with PowerPoint

Half fun, half fear. That is always what your kids feel in the first week of school. Fun in meeting new friends, and fear of the summer gone-by yet of what's to come. As teachers and parents, you can plan a colorful series of back to school crafts and activities to shatter the fear and encourage your kids. You may throw a funny film shot at night of the first school day, but I assume it would be more interesting and inspiring to guide kids to DIY their own back-to-school DVD movies with PowerPoint. Since kids are curious to new things, a challenging movie creation may dig their inspiration of crafts, brush up their computer skills, drive out initial back-to-school fear, and rebuild confidence in them. So this new school year, teach your children to make an icebreaker back-to-school DVD movie with PowerPoint and make a shiny start.

    What You Will Need:

    • High-def Digital Photos High-def Digital Photos

    • MS PowerPoint MS PowerPoint on Your PC

    • Back to School Video/Audio Mood Music or Video Clips

    • blank DVD disc for back-to-school movie Quality Blank DVD Disk(s)

    • Moyea PPT to DVD Burner Edu Moyea PPT to DVD Burner Edu

    • DVD player DVD Player or Projector

    What to Do:

Generally, this back-to-school DVD movie requires 2 processes - One is to mould in PowerPoint, One is to burn to DVD disc.

    A. Mould back-to-school PowerPoint slideshow
I recommend MS PowerPoint because it is easy to use for young kids. You don't need to be a genius to use and teach PowerPoint. Now the first step you are to take is to compose the shape of the back-to-school movie with PowerPoint. Have no idea of the "shape"? It indicates what kind of story you want to develop in the back-to-school movie. It can either be an immediate record of awesome activities on the first school day, or an exotic collection of each kid's photo memories of the past summer vacation.
As to the movie story itself, you should associate it with your existing sources: the most basic factor digital photos, the effect accelerator mood music (also background music), or fitting video clips to give more of a touch. Be sure you have enough high-def photos in hand to support a back-to-school movie show (usu. 7-10 photos per minute).

When all the materials for the digital project are ready, it's time to assemble them into PowerPoint. You can use Photo Album in PowerPoint 2003/2007 to add in and edit the photos in order, insert the ready video clip to an expected slide, title the scenes of your movie story, and give a music mood that hits the point.
After edition, it comes to the second process:

    B. Burn back-to-school PowerPoint presentation to DVD disc

A slideshow is not enough. Your back-to-school PowerPoint presentation can be playback on a DVD player or projector like a real TV show. All you need is to burn it to accessible DVD with such a cheap but effective app as Moyea PPT to DVD Burner Edu, an e-Learning program that can burn PowerPoint to SCORM compliant DVD and video at on go. Here is a simple guide of burning PowerPoint to DVD disc.

    a. Pop in a blank DVD disc to your PC if supportable. Otherwise, you will finally get DVD image files of the back-to-school movie that requires another burning app to burn to disc.
    b. Install and launch Moyea PPT to DVD Burner Edu. Then import the back-to-school PowerPoint file.
    c. Select the output to DVD (either Standard or High Definition). Personalize your back-to-school DVD movie with your individual logo. Also select a proper DVD theme from the Menu tab.
    d. Click Start to burn the back-to-school PowerPoint to DVD (disc).

For illustrative details of burning a PowerPoint presentation to DVD, see in How to Burn PowerPoint to DVD

OK. Your back-to-school DVD movie is ready on a disc. Connect it to a DVD player hooked to a large-screen TV, or to your school computer with a projector. Turn the icebreaker movie on, sit back with your kids, and enjoy the fun school day project!

Say Hello to New Classmates with A Self-introduction Video Slideshow

Simple self-introduction video slideshow - A stylish way to show the truest of yourself to your new pals at this back to school season

The new school year comes with the end of this wild summer 2009. Now you are heading back to school, entering into a higher grade, and will meet new faces in class, often say "Hello" to each other in the first class, by a string of self-introductions. It's perfect that you are born an eloquent presenter. But if you happen to be a slow speaker liable to a tongue-tie before public, you need to take efforts preparing your self-introduction in advance. A pretty cool option for you shy students, particularly to you computer geeks, is to employ a compelling video slideshow to outstand yourselves in front of the new class.

What can a smart video slideshow bring?

A well-structured video slideshow can not only wow your audience, but also bring you sheer joy of creation. When you say Hello to your new classmates by a live video show with a laptop, or an iPhone projected to a white wall, they would have a deeper impression of you. If you publish the video slideshow to YouTube or Facebook, later the new pals coming to it would remind you of your special performance on the first day of the new semester.

As to self-improvement, you can get a closer look of yourself from your DIY profile, as well as exercise computer skills at making video slideshow. Because you can't convince the audience unless you know yourself and express yourself properly.

How to make a video slideshow of self-introduction?

It's less than a cinch to create your self-introduction video. Here I would love to suggest two methods, one for PowerPoint users, and one for students without PowerPoint on their PCs.

Moyea PPT to Video Converter Edu 1. Moyea PPT to Video Converter Edu If you are using MS PowerPoint, you can compose your self-introduction slideshow there. Then use Moyea PPT to Video Converter Edu, an all-inclusive PowerPoint-to-video conversion program, to convert the existing PPT presentation to video, as video makes more sense beyond a desktop, extending your profile to the live Web, a Blackberry, an iPod, an iPhone, and more. If necessary, get some beautiful back-to-school PowerPoint backgrounds at Free Back to School PowerPoint Backgrounds

For free PowerPoint templates, click here

Done your self-introduction in PowerPoint, now you can assign the conversion task to Moyea PPT to Video Converter Edu. All in 3 simple steps:
    a) Install the e-Learning app, launch it, and import the presentation of your self-introduction.
    b) Select an output video format, most popular as AVI, MP4 and WMV. Customize the video profile options as you specialize.
    c) Click "Start" to convert to video.

Once the video slideshow comes out, hook it to from your local drive to an iPod or Blackberry, upload it to a video hosting site like YouTube, publish at popular Facebook, embed to your personal blog, and invite your new pals to visit. Alternatively, save it to a CD or USB flash drive, and take to school for a live delivery to those fresh faces.

Windows Movie Maker 2. Windows Movie Maker
Not a PowerPoint user? You can still make a self-introduction video since there is a helpful friend - free Windows Movie Maker. Import and assemble the sources (usu. video clips of your typical moments, pictures of your favorite sports, stars, food…) of your self-introduction into Windows Movie Maker. Edit all the elements into a story video with a beginning, middle and end. Use titles, transitions, sounds to make the "TV-style" video enjoyable.

When your self-introduction video slideshow is ready, you can do as described in the first method to share with your new classmates. Enjoy video inspiration, enjoy new school year!

How to Overcome Fear of Delivering Your Class PowerPoint Presentation

Although you have done a perfect job on your class presentation itself, even finalizing it in safe video or DVD after built with the functional and formal PowerPoint, you may be too nervous to control the flow of your project when speaking in front of your class and peers. You are suffering the so-called "Glossophobia", i.e. the fear of public speaking. And you don't have to feel embarrassed on that - it occurs to 3 out of 4 presenters.

To relieve your stress on real-time performance, here I would love to introduce 8 tips on the delivery issue, also as an supplement of the class presentation creation and distribution tips that revealed in the posts "Create and Distribute a Class PowerPoint Presentation (I) & (II)".

How to overcome fear on live delivery of a class presentation (in PowerPoint, DVD or Video)

    1. Dress formally. A neat, clean and professional dress does add confidence in you when you stand in front of your audience. When you wear appropriately, you are more likely to being calm and confident. The more confidence you have, the less fear you suffer. And when you look good, your coming presentation probably captures the listening ears.

    2. Voice clearly. Speak clearly and loudly and have inflection in your voice. Be sure that every attendant can hear you, and that every detail of your message can reach him or her, especially in a big lecture hall. Avoid mumbling - remember you are going to engage your class, not to lull them to sleep.

    3. Make eye contact. Never forget to make eye contact with your class and peers. Stop staring at your computer or the floor. Otherwise, you will bore your audience. Relax and think they are your friends, just imagine it is a light chat in an afternoon-tea party, and always invite their attention to your topic.

    4. Be your real self. Personality is a key to makes one outstand. Keep in mind one thing: this is your presentation, not your peer John's or Mary's. So show your true taste to the audience with your class presentation. If you are a person of humor, then be humorous this time; if you are someone of skepticism, just keep your skeptical manner.

    5. Smile is always an aid. Smile can help melt a serious mood at the beginning of your class presentation. Smile means you feel wonderful to tell them something you find good. Nothing works better than a warm smile when you make a tongue slip, or forget a word of your presentation. Your class will forgive a minor mistake in exchange of your sincere smile.

    6. Act as a professional. Now you dress in a professional manner like your teacher, behave like a real expert. It means that you should discuss questions raised by any of your classmates, give supporting evidence to your opinion, try to attract negative audiences and encourage interaction with them. You can also ask them questions or leave a few minutes for Q&A session at the end of the class presentation.

    7. Stay within the assigned time. The prerequisite is practice your class presentation in advance. Limit each key point within an assigned time. Know which are the major points and which are the minor and make immediate modification according to that. Your peers won't stick to your ideas when class is over.

    8. Good start, good end. Your conclusion is your final impression while the introduction is the first one. If you don't want to fall short of success, enhance the ending of your class presentation. You can close it by citing something innovative or summarizing the major points covered in the body of the presentation (post-organizing) and providing a sense of closure.

    5 "E"s Necessary for E-Learning PowerPoint Presentation

What you should master to make a knocking e-learning PowerPoint presentation for easy distribution and flexible reuse

Affordable and accessible, e-Learning is seizing a large portion of learning activities both in schools and in corporations. And the rapid growth of Internet and multimedia technologies including PowerPoint, flash, video and DVD, contributes a great to e-Learning in making it available to a multitude of learners with ease and flexibility. Among the most popular e-Learning technologies, PowerPoint-based tools are taking great popularity in formal academic and industry education. Here we sum up 5 tips (herein as 5 Es as each begins with Letter E) that should be kept in mind when making an e-Learning PowerPoint presentation. The 5 necessaries for an E-Learning presentation are listed below:

    1. Engaging

"Engaging" is to the content. Your e-Learning PowerPoint presentation must include engaging content capable of capturing the learners at the very first time. Avoid dulling your presentation by the so-called Death by PowerPoint, i.e. you should organize the whole story in a reasonable way - clear and brief rather than random and tedious. If it is a course presentation on Science, for example, you can use key phrases or words or graphics instead of complete long sentences to describe the topic, limit the number of slides to the most concise extent, put each title on the top of every slide for quick navigation, contrast different texts by a shift of colors, and apply animations and transitions sparingly to title messages (not to the text part) of the presentation.
A presentation with several dynamic effects can catch their eyes better than a plain one consisting only static pictures and texts, but too many effects will degrade it to a distraction. So think carefully before adding in a thrilling sound or movie clip to your e-Learning presentation.

    2. Evocative

"Evocative" means that the messages in your e-Learning presentation can evoke a positive response when conveyed to the learners. What you convey is what they are right in need. To make that, you must take a survey to ensure the topic you are going to talk by the presentation makes sense, and must plan how to present it in a way that appeals to the learners.
Suggestions: rehearse the presentation until perfect before you deliver it. You can practice it in a rehearsal room as if the learners were there, or ask someone as audience to give you his/her advice.

    3. Efficient

"Efficient" here is to the delivery of your e-Learning presentation. You made a wonderful learning item, but it failed to reach the target learners because they couldn't open the PowerPoint presentation. That is a lack of efficiency. As we know, files generated by PowerPoint are often too clumsy and fragile to carry via the Internet. To make it an easy access to the learners, you can upload the e-Learning presentation to the Web (an authorized website or your blog) for sharing online, or burn it to DVD as endurable disc handouts using software like Moyea PPT to DVD Burner.
Related: 6 Approaches to Putting PowerPoint on Web

    4. Enjoyable

"Enjoyable" indicates the e-Learning experience by your presentation. E-Learning itself is a convenient and flexible learning method, self-paced and available almost 24x7, without boundary of time and space. E-learning stuff on a PowerPoint presentation, however, is not a nice layout for learning community on the Web. If you want an interactive impact of your e-Learning presentation, then why not convert it to one of the most popular media formats throughout the Internet - flash video? That is a good way to show a complete look of your presentation online, since a direct link of PowerPoint to the Web may fail to retain all the dynamic effects like embedded sounds, movie clips as well as animations and transitions. Tools that can help transfer your e-Learning presentation to flash video include Moyea PPT4Web Converter, capable of creating a PowerPoint-based FLV file supportable by Adobe Flash Player and many other flash players.
Then, it becomes a cinch for you to put and share the hitless e-Learning PPT video at a learning community, or your teaching blog. Your students and other target learners can enjoy it more by a free exchange of ideas as comments on the slick PowerPoint video.

    5. Easy

"Easy" refers to two: the messages of your e-Learning presentation are easy to understand, while the content is easy to get. To put it straight, you should on the one hand compose the learning stuff, especially those with deep thoughts, in a simple manner that doesn't confuse a learner. On the other hand, make accessible copies of the presentation, via a CD-ROM, DVD, video or PDF, for later reuse by yourself and for the benefit of those involved who request a review of it.
    For your convenience of reference:
To burn your e-Learning presentation to CD or DVD, see in the post How to Burn PowerPoint Presentation (PPT) to CD or DVD
To save your presentation to PDF, go to Export Office Applications to PDF

E-Learning, a green method of learning, does brings us great convenience and opportunity these years. Bear in your mind the 5 Es - Engaging, Evocative, Efficient, Enjoyable and Easy as mentioned above to make an successful e-Learning course based on presentation.

Compared with bloated PowerPoint, video is a better format that is easier, safer and more popular for web distribution. Put the video course to your teaching blog or any shared group, inviting the students to join and leave a comment so that you can get more interactive with them and improve the next lesson according to their feedbacks. For quick video creation out of your course presentation, Moyea PPT to Video Converter can help.
Click here to get a grasp of how to insert a PowerPoint video to your blog.

Save the PowerPoint course content to PDF
Apart from the above video or DVD extension of your course presentation, this Save to PDF mean a static preserve of your course presentation. Though animations and other dynamic effects in the original get lost once saved to PDF, the compact format brings a real ease in delivering your course content via email to share with your students.

If you are a PowerPoint 2007 user, you can save the course presentation straight to PDF. Microsoft provides a free Save as PDF or XPS add-in on its official website. After you download and install that Publish As PDF add-in, you can save your course stuff to PDF as email attachment. What if you use an earlier version like Office 2003? Then take Moyea PPT to PDF Converter (applies to MS Office 2000 and above) to generate a PDF copy of your course.
